Craft Cocktail Recipe: Jalapeño Julep Cocktail





A Touch of Spice toKick Alive Your Taste Buds!

This week’s cocktail is inspired by Edward Lee, Chef/Owner of 610 Magnolia of Louisville and other restaurants. It transforms the Mint Julep into a more complex, more exciting taste sensation that is the perfect drink for setting up your taste buds for a great meal.

Ingredients for Jalapeño Syrup:

1/2 Cup of Water
1/2 Cup of Sugar
1 Jalapeño Chopped & Seeded
Directions for Jalapeño Syrup:

1.) In a small sauce pan combine the water, sugar, and jalapeño. 2.) Bring the mixture to a boil. 3.) Once, it boils turn off the heat and allow it to steep for 20 minutes. 4.) Then strain it & refrigerate. 

Ingredients for Jalapeño Julep:

2 oz Relativity - New American Whiskey

6 - 9 Mint Leaves Depending on Size

1 teaspoon Jalapeño Syrup (see recipe above) 

Directions for Jalapeño Julep:

1.) In a rocks class - Muddle Together the mint leaves and 1tsp of the Jalapeño Syrup, 2.) Add 2 oz of our Relativity - New American Whiskey (if you don’t have it - try another local craft brand), 3.) Then add ice (crushed is preferred, but cubes are fine), 4.) Stir 13 times
